Khiew Hoe Yean Dominates Malaysia Open 2025 with Eight Gold Medals

KUALA LUMPUR – National swimming sensation Khiew Hoe Yean delivered a stunning performance at the 67th Malaysia Open Swimming Championships, bagging an incredible eight gold medals across individual and relay events.

The 22-year-old Olympian showcased his versatility and stamina, winning gold in the 100m, 200m, and 400m freestyle, 100m and 200m backstroke, and the 200m individual medley, where he also shattered the national record with a time of 2:03.29. His individual triumphs were complemented by impressive team efforts, as he anchored Malaysia to victory in both the 4x200m freestyle relay and the 4x100m medley relay.

Khiew’s commanding performance not only reaffirmed his status as Malaysia’s premier male swimmer but also boosted national hopes ahead of major international competitions later this year, including the SEA Games and the World Championships in August.

Speaking after the meet, Khiew expressed gratitude towards his coaches, teammates, and supporters. “I’m proud to have been able to perform consistently across different events. This meet was important for me to gauge where I stand, and I’m looking forward to pushing my limits even further,” he said.

With his stellar outing at the Malaysia Open, Khiew Hoe Yean continues to inspire the next generation of Malaysian swimmers, setting a new benchmark for excellence in the pool.
